Here is a soft white, entrancing Tampa Bay Coral matching pair. This was cut in half to reveal a beautiful world.
It was in a private collection for years, and I was able to obtain a few pieces from the person who got it. I found it at this years Tucson Gem & Mineral Show.
Tampa Bay coral is rare to find today, especially one this size. The last time I obtained any for eBay was 20 years ago. The dredging process that would uncover these is no longer used in Tampa Bay. This is a fossilized coral from 20 - 30 million years ago. The surfaces look like semi-translucent marble. The surfaces have been polished to perfection. On one half is a fissure/chamber that extends well toward the back. On a microscopic scale it possesses wonderful boytroidal shapes outlined in fine white lines. Other areas of the fissure are covered in minute crystals. There is a big world occupying this small pair. This is a collectors piece on several levels.
An acrylic display stand will be included.
