Here is one of Artist Vidal Coronas well known and sought after macaws. You could also say these are parrots. Macaws were very important in the daily life of Señor Coronas ancestors and remains of their holding area have been found within the ancient Casas Grandes community near the Village of Mata Ortiz. His skill and love for this animal is on full display. There are seven images in total. The main macaw is the pottery itself with the large head and pronounced curved beak. The remaining six are the carefully etched, and cheerfully glazed images surrounding the circumference of the pottery. The white clay and the glazes are all from materials gathered in the native landscape surrounding this artists colony. And as his ancestors from the Paquime culture did one thousand years ago, Señor Corona shapes and fires these pieces in the same manner.
Señor Corona signs his works on the bottom.
