Artist Vidal Corona
Width - 2.25 inches
Height - 3.5 inches
Weight - 3.5 ounces
Artist Vidal Corona is the master artisan responsible for this pottery. One of his most sought after depictions are the parrots. His skill and love for this animal is on full display in this piece. Three images of these birds encircle the pottery. A multitude of cheerful glazes are combined with delicate etching to create these nearly 3 dimensional images. The white clay and the glazes are all from materials gathered in the native landscape surrounding the village of Mata Ortiz. Señor Corona is one of the only folk artists in the village of Mata Ortiz with the skill to blend one color into another across the lines. The opening of the pottery created by the near joining of the three parrot heads is a very hard to find result in this artists colony in the heart of Chihuahua, Mexico.
Señor Corona signs his works on the bottom.
A pottery ring is included.
