Señor Tomas Quintana - Sculptor
 Height - 6 inches
 Length - 11 inches
 Weight - 2 pounds 4 ounces

This pottery has been created by Señor Tomas Quintana. Tomas is regarded in the highest levels for his realistic and symbolic representations of the wildlife of Chihuahua. This is a bobcat in a crouching stance. The symbolic aspect arises from the use of traditional designs first implemented by his ancestors 1000 years ago. A roadrunner and a quail are on either side of the cat. The arrow heads along the spine, the parallel wavy lines and checkered patterns are all an homage from a descendant to his great grandparents many times removed.

The realism is wonderfully portrayed in the lifelike texture of the surface, face, ears and everywhere else. The piece is full and heavy and so unique to the artist colony of Mata Ortiz. There are intentional holes in the ears and the end of the tail that assist in the successful firing of the clay.

This bobcat is new and is the first of its kind that I've seen. Señor Quintana has signed the underside.
