Señor Oscar Ortiz - Master Potter
Weight - 1 pound 15 ounces
Width - 6 inches
Height - 9.5 inches
Señor Señor Oscar Ortiz is the creator of this piece of Mata Ortiz finest. Señor Ortiz organic skills are exhibited in his recreation of the ancient Paquime imagery of his ancestors. This is a two piece creation, with the main pottery and a matching base for it to sit. The underlying glaze is white. This provides the groundwork for showing off the bold, beautiful, and warm colors of the southwest deserts of the U.S. and Mexico. The beige, blue, brown and black merge as individual shapes and designs, with this beautiful folk art the result. Some of these designs are almost 3-Dimensional looking, while the entire surface is glazed with eye bending designs hailing from Señor Ortiz ancestors the Paquime, from 1000 years ago. Eagles and doves are thrust right into the middle of the menagerie of shapes. Considerable time and skill was put into creating this one of a kind pottery.
Señor Ortiz creations are formed from materials retrieved from the natural resources provided by the surrounding environment of the Village of Mata Ortiz.
Señor Ortiz signature is on the bottom.
