Señor David Bejarano makes exquisite pottery with hidden imagery and subtle and unique glazes.
This piece features two animals hidden within what appears to be a sweep of random designs. See if you can catch what the animals are. The included video is the best way to see these in the pottery.
David also adds microscopic green beads to the glass, which are visible on very close inspection. This subtle addition gives the very dark gray glaze a textured appearance.
Adding to the illusions of the movement of the air are over a dozen butterflies fluttering by. All this imagery is created through the method of ‘Sgraffito’. This art goes back to the ancient Greeks. The native white clay is enveloped in a dark glaze that Señor Bejarano has created from scratch. Once dried, he etches through the thick layer down to the underlying clay and creates this imagery. This design is unique to David.
