Artist Oscar Jr. G. Quezada has hand crafted this lovely and graceful pottery. This is a Wedding Vessel made with a gracefully curved handle connecting two nearly round openings. It is made from native black clay. Through selective polishing, these entrancing patterns are revealed.
The contrast of matte finish and metal polish create the Paquime designs from 1000 years ago by the villagers ancestors. These Wedding Vases are used in pre-wedding ceremonies, and these ceremonies vary from one Latin American country to another. There is much more to detail about this than I can write here. But there is very interesting reading all over the internet.
Remember, always keep liquids out of this pottery, and pick it up by the sides, never bu the handle.
Señor Quezada signs his work on the bottom.
A ring for sitting is provided.
