Here is a beautiful specimen of chalcedony from Utah. This chalcedony has a wonderful luster. It creates an effect as if we are looking into a pond of ice. Features on the surface are sharp and clear. And just under the surface features are more mysterious and deep, like things which get frozen into ice. The flat polish has succeeded tremendously in drawing out the effect. The finest chalcedony comes from this western state.
