This beautiful gourd shaped artwork was hand formed by Master Craftswoman Victoria A. M if the village of Mata Ortiz. Victoria favors images of her ancestors of the Casas Grandes region from a thousand years ago.
The pottery is covered with these designs that date back to the Paquime Culture. Traditional patterns, and geometric and feather covered sashes in on this piece can be seen in artwork across many southwestern cultures dating back a thousand years ago.
You will also see a fine spray pattern consisting of several shades of blue and orange. Victoria has taken the bristles of her homemade brushes and pulled back and released, creating this mesmerizing pattern.
Each and every part of this creation was hand fashioned and fired in an outdoor, homemade oven.
Each of these are unique and made from scratch, so no two are ever alike. And, she signs her work on the underside.
