Artist Señor Ivan Marin created this simply elegant Mata Ortiz pottery. His work is rarely available. The round shape is reminiscent of the native gourds which grow along the streets of the artists colony. The checkered patterns are a direct evolution from the designs of Ivons ancestors, the Paquime, from one thousand years ago. His artistic style is superb. He uses two darker shades of glaze and still creates a wonderful, sharp contrast without losing detail. It is truly masterful.
