Artists Ms. Brenda Zubia created this lovely pottery. The walls are thick and durable. The glaze of this pottery is superior. Subtle blends from leafy green to earthen red combine to create a soothing harmony.
The firing is longer in duration to assure strong ceramic for this investment in art which will last a lifetime. I only deal in the finest level of pottery provided by the villagers of Mata Ortiz.
For this piece the artist has implemented subtle etching which defines the shapes. Free form shapes of brick red connect and create a pathway extending across the entire body pf the pottery. Open areas, or windows, are formed in between these pathways. These windows all feature a wise owl perched on a leafy branch. The shape of this piece is taller than wide and rounded on both ends, resembling native beans from the region.The pottery is made from white clay native to the Mata Ortiz area. Along with the white clay, all the materials and glazes used to make this are from the finest of elements in the Good Earth native to the countryside surrounding the village of Mata Ortiz.
