Introduction:

This piece by Gerardo Garcia is one of two I am making available for the first time. After years of searching, I have finally found examples of this extraordinary work. The Talavera featured here is known as the ‘Breath of Life’ design, a rare and nearly impossible find. If you search for similar pieces, you will be amazed at its rarity.

The Sun: Symbolism and Character:

This Sun is a representation of masculine strength and intensity, embodying paternal kindness. From his hands, the ‘breath of life’ is gently blown into the fragile world, offering a warm, loving strength to anyone ready to receive its goodness. His rich, wide blue eyes reflect wisdom and kindness, while his hands are both strong and remarkably detailed for Talavera ceramic art. The Sun serves as both guardian and guide to the wonders of the hidden universe, blessing any space with its presence.

Artistry and Techniques:

Señor Garcia employs advanced techniques in the artistic and creative process of Talavera ceramics. The Sun is surrounded by highly decorated flames, which are being blown from his right to his left. Remarkably, there are double layers of fire, and each flame is meticulously painted. Even the lower, less visible layer is given detailed attention, ensuring beauty throughout the entire piece. All nineteen flames feature unique, hand-painted designs in brilliant Latin American colors. These festive colors, characteristic of Mexican culture, complement, balance, and enhance the rich orange tones of the Sun’s face and hands. On the right side, the flames embrace the face with a realistic and soft quality, resembling hair.

Signature and Rarity:

Among the Talavera pieces offered by me and others, only a handful of artists possess the perfection, skill, and notoriety to warrant signing their work. Señor Garcia is among the rarest of these Artists. His signature is glazed onto the backside of the Sun, marking it as a true collector’s piece.

Shipping Details:

The Sun will be shipped in a custom-constructed box, reinforced to ensure a safe journey. The piece weighs nearly fourteen pounds, reflecting its substantial craftsmanship and quality. Shipping is calculated based on your location. What I pay for shipping, you pay. I do not add costs.
