Here is the largest and most festive piece of Talavera pottery I have had the opportunity to offer. This is the Saguaro cactus native to Sonora, Mexico. This is stunning in the deft use of contrasting and bold coloration. The tips have blue petal flowers. The eye popping orange shade enhances the other colors. No Talavera piece of this size would be considered really authentic without this festival of colors and shapes. These patterns and colors would contradict each other in almost any other endeavor, but the artisans south of the border know how to make this art form work into a carnival of beauty.
