This is a 'Shield' pendant of Inca origins. The diamond shape represented a protection to the wearer from inner earth ills. The square vortex is an interpretation of the Inca Earth Goddess 'Pachamama', the Mother Earth of their time a thousand years ago.
This pendant was hand created by the Peruvian family business of Urin Huanca. The skill and craftmanship means this will last a lifetime.
Each of the pieces is from the natural wonders of Peru on the land and on their shores. The craftsmen take the time to individually pick each of the precious stones and shells to be used. Each piece is very carefully and delicately cut and laid. Fine silver filaments are inserted between pieces deftly in a way only human hands can do.
Each of the four points are the four main directions. The image and its meaning are centuries old. The design was originally created by the Inca. Now their descendants recreate this with their own modern touch.
