This Nautiloid from the east African island nation of Madagascar is in superb condition with skilled handling to bring it to this point. It is around 112 million years ago from the Cretaceous Period. The separate slices of chambers are defined and detailed. The mouth is wide and characteristic of the ancient Nautiloids. The entire fossil exhibits great qualities of preservation. The end of the nautiloid has worn enough to reveal other fossilized animals that were within it when it died. Maybe they were a last meal? In photos where there side of the mouth appears to be cleaved, it is actually smooth. This fossil is of high display quality for an office or show case or desktop in the home. Note: The nautilus will arrive without the glass plate. This was for photographing only.
