Artist Efren Ledezma Mexican Mata Ortiz Pottery.
This is one of the more intricate 3-D rendering pieces of pottery to enter my store, and one of the more delicate. Eight different distinguished heads pop out from this piece. Each head is attached to a body painted on the surface. Then two addition hissing vipers are painted onto the top, their bodies also undulating across the piece.
This is a seed pot, called that as the opening is big enough to store seed but small enough to safely keep the seed from rodents.
Displaying of this Efren Ledezma Mexican Mata Ortiz Pottery should be done where there is little to no activity of pets, children, etc.. Maybe behind a glass case. Señor Efren Ledezma has painstakingly formed this pottery of life and action from inert clay. He has imbued it with a rainbow of colors derived from glazes created from the countryside.
This piece is signed on the underside.
A cloth covered ring is included.
