Artist - Señora Lourdes Villalba
 Weight - 12 ounces
 Height  - 6.25 inches
 Width   - 3.75 inches

The artists of the village of Mata Ortiz have a deep tradition of creating effigies. This figure is a bear and its 'friend' the smiling fish. Because of the smiling fish, it would seem these two are friends and not diner and dinner. Conjured by one of the most prolific members of the Villalba family dynasty, Señora Lourdes Villalba gives life to these pieces through using her family's' time-honored traditions in creative techniques. The bear has an almost boyish charm to his wide eyed expression. The geometric styles surrounding the body are strong in the Paquime design influences of Ms. Villalbas ancestors a thousand years ago. And the earthen tones are lovely and soft and created from the soil surrounding the landscape of the village of Mata Ortiz.

A pottery ring for this bear and 'friend' to sit on is included.
