Canadian Amethyst is also knowns as Thunder Bay Amethyst or Red Cap amethyst. This crystal is found only in a very localized area of Thunder Bay in Ontario. This unique crystal is immediately recognized with its covering of hematite which gives it an appearance from light dusty to a grainy red appearance. This piece is the rarer light dusty form.
When seen edge on the underlying traditional purple amethyst is clearly visible. The caps are packed and sharply pointed. This piece has a slight rhombohedron shape.
