If you have not seen Señor Oscar Quezadas work before, here is a wonderful introduction.
Señor Quezada carries on the family tradition of a generations work to revive the wonderful artistry of his ancestors from a thousand years ago. His family is a lynch pin in the Mata Ortiz movement of today. Oscars work is immediately recognized with its bright, animated artwork. So much of this pottery is a testament to the beauty of the ancients merged with the new generations eye for the contemporary. In no other culture, in no other place will a piece like this be found. This is truly a symbol of the people of Mata Ortiz.
The pottery is blanketed with designs of the ancient Paquime culture of the Casas Grandes region in Chihuahua. Pure neon shades of teal mirrored with the richest evening blue blend perfectly with the rich, warmer shades of the native earth. This pottery radiates its warmth from where ever it is sitting.
