Señor Eon Diaz Jr. is a true genius in the art of working in black clay.
The clay is pulled from the Good Earth surrounding the village of Mata Ortiz. Señor Ortiz fires the clay until it becomes a hard ceramic using outdoor wood ovens. Then the real magic and the intense work begins. Through determination and dedication, and intense skill earned over a lifetime, this potter creates mesmerizing patterns. These patterns date back 1000 years ago to his ancestors of the Paquime culture. By creating both matte finishes and gloss finishes of the black ceramic, minute details, nearly unimaginable, come to life. The entire pottery comes alive.
This vase makes a statement wherever it is set. It expresses fondness and affection for nature, as with these 3 Fancy Tailed Goldfish which encircle the pottery. Señor Eon Diaz signs his work on the bottom.
This artwork comes with a pottery ring.
