Señor Che Pedregón
Height - 8 inches
Width - 5.25 inches
Weight - 12 ounces
A pottery ring is included.
Pottery by Señor Che Pedregón rarely comes up for sale, and the wedding vase is even rarer. Che Pedregón is a member of the third generation of potters, descended from the father of the movement, Señor Juan Quezada. Just out of his teens, his inherent talent and desire to carry on the village tradition is obvious.
This vase is made from the local white clay. The flow and smooth curves of the pottery are graceful and soft. Che does a wonderful job at combining sophisticated, formal design with spontaneous depictions. The handle and around the spouts are the geometric shapes characteristic of the Paquime ancestors. The rest of the wedding vase is a more free style of painting. On one side is the the ever present hummingbird. On the other side is the tree dwelling chameleon.
The artist signs his work on the bottom.
